M.M. has obtained an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) for its FRP gratings (Fiberglass Reinforced Polymer). The declaration covers 52 configurations of open-mesh FRP gratings with square mesh, rectangular mesh or micro-mesh, of covered and double covered versions.
Following the Environmental Product Declaration for its pultruded structural profiles, M.M. has continued on the same technical path by extending the EPD to another key product family for industrial and infrastructure applications: FRP gratings.
“Our concrete commitment to environmental transparency has enabled us to obtain an EPD for our FRP gratings as well,” comments Emanuel Morandini, CEO of M.M. “With this Environmental Product Declaration, the scope of M.M.’s certified environmental transparency expands: alongside pultruded profiles—linear structural elements—we have now added gratings for walkways, steps, covers, fencing and gates that, in many projects, have a significant impact on installed quantities and on specification choices”.
For designers, companies and contracting authorities, M.M.’s EPD for FRP gratings enables:
• more reliable comparisons between alternative solutions (with equivalent performance requirements);
• greater support for industrial and infrastructure engineering/design, where the technical credibility of the data is an integral part of the decision-making process;
• easier alignment with market requirements and tender specifications, which increasingly include EPD and LCA as requirements or as award/assessment criteria.
M.M.’s goal has unchanged over time: to turn sustainability into measurable, verifiable data that can be used in engineering.
