The project "Edicola. Comunità in rete", winner of the FAR Call for Projects (Festival of Architecture in Rome, September 26 – October 6), was entirely built using translucent fiberglass gratings, thanks to the technical support of M.M.
The installation was curated by the Aut Aut Architettura studio (Gabriele Capobianco, Edoardo Capuzzo Dolcetta, Jonathan Lazar, Damiano Ranaldi, Flavia Pittaluga, and Sara Milano).
EDICOLA is a temporary structure available to the "educating community." It is an open and adaptable device, which can be crossed or used as a resting point, where one can leave their contribution, making it freely accessible to the rest of the community in a place designed to highlight, elevate, and protect it. This is similar to how devotional images were housed in ancient kiosks (from the Latin *aedicula*, a diminutive of *aedes* meaning “temple,” and thus originally meaning “small temple”). Another reference is the newsstand, now a nostalgic symbol due to the diminishing presence of these physical outposts for the widespread distribution of culture and information.
These places of interaction, meeting, and exchange—standing in contrast to the digitalization of information, which is increasingly sacrificing rituals and intermediaries—have a clear connection to the EDICOLA envisioned for the "educating community."
